The Doyle Law Firm has been representing hundreds of clients in the consolidated Chinese drywall litigation in New Orleans, Lousisiana. Judge Eldon Fallon is the United States District Court judge overseeing the process which, to this point, has focused mainly on the Knauf (KPT) related defendants. Because the KPT settlement (recently announced and preliminarily approved by the court) affects roughly 4,500 of the 10,000 filed cases, it is now time to focus on the other cases involving other manufacturing defendants and seek relief for those homeowners that have seen little progress in their cases to this point. It is not too late to file your case, even if you've found drywall marked with "Knauf Tianjin China" but time is limited.

We are still accepting Chinese Drywall Claims in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.

There are over 1,000 defendants (manufacturers, importers, distributors, home builders, and drywall subcontractors) in the consolidated litigation, which is focused on roughly 30 different manufacturers that produced defective Chinese drywall. Of those 30 manufacturer, many of them fall under the corporate umbrella of a larger business. For example, our discovery has shown that Beijing New Building Materials is the parent company of more than 10 Taishan-related businesses that sold products under a variety of names. In total, roughly 6 manufacturers produced the lions' share of the defective sheetrock distributed along the Gulf Coast of the Southeastern United States. And, the coastline of the U.S. (Pacific, Gulf Coast, and Atlantic Coast) has most of the homes built with defective drywall.

What is Chinese Drywall?

It is simply a building product used to create the walls in a home. Chinese drywall is no different in appearance than domestic drywall. The problem with some of the imported drywall from China is the composition of the gypsum material inside the sheetrock - it contains contaminants that should have been removed during the manufacturing process. Over time, the defective drywall materials undergo a chemical process and "off-gas" noxious fumes that are harmful to people and certain metals within a home.

When was Defective Chinese Drywall Used?

Picture of Chinese drywall with blue China stamp on KPT boardBeginning in 2001, Chinese drywall was imported to the United States and used throughout our country in the construction of single family residences, multi-family residences, and commercial properties. Some of the product that was manufactured in China is non-reactive, which means that it does not off-gas toxic chemicals. However, during the Chinese drywall litigation, testing has been conducted that proves a substantial amount of the drywall imported between 2004 and 2008 is defective and most of those manufacturers can now be identified.
